Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically Optizin rapidly penetrates through the cornea. After instillation of eye drops, the maximum drug concentration in the aqueous humor reaches the anterior chamber after 1-2 hours. In a small number of hits in the systemic circulation by absorption through the vessels of the conjunctiva, nasal mucosa and lacrimal tract. Excretion of metabolites occurs mainly Optizin kidneys.
Pharmacodynamics
Is a non-selective blocker Optizin beta-adrenergic receptors. It has no intrinsic sympathomimetic and membrane stabilizing activity. When applied topically as eye drops to reduce both normal and elevated intraocular pressure by reducing aqueous humor formation. No effect on pupil size and accommodation. The action of the drug is 20 minutes after instillation into conjunctival cavity. The maximum decrease in intraocular pressure occurs within 1-2 hours and lasts for 24 hours.
Indications for use
Elevated intraocular pressure (ocular hypertension), glaucoma (chronic open-angle glaucoma), afakicheskaya glaucoma and other forms of secondary glaucoma, as an additional means to reduce intraocular pressure in angle-closure glaucoma (in combination with miotikami), congenital glaucoma (for lack of other therapeutic measures)
