Pharmacokinetics
When topically Povidone-iodine on iodine absorption intact skin is minimal. Iodine in the body turns into iodide, which accumulates mainly in the thyroid gland. Free iodide allocated mainly in the urine, a small amount of feces, saliva and sweat. Iodides pass through the placental barrier and penetrate into breast milk.
Pharmacodynamics
After contact with skin and mucous membranes of povidone-iodine liberated organic iodine, which has broad spectrum antimicrobial action. The drug also contains allantion, which has anti-inflammatory effect.
Indications for use
